Violet Year 6 2014-15

Harvest deliveries

Today, at St. Mary’s, we celebrated Harvest time with a Harvest festival in our school hall. The children performed songs and gave information about our chosen charity, ‘Farm Africa’. Followed the service, Violet class took on the important job of delivering Harvest gifts around the local area.


Romeo and Juliet workshop

Violet class have just finished their first week of a unit of work about Romeo and Juliet. This afternoon, they had a special Shakespeare workshop alongside a West End theatre actor. The children knew so much about the play and really impressed him. They crated freeze frames about the main events and learnt more about each character by speaking their lines in role. What

Music Celebration Assembly

This afternoon, we celebrated the exceptional musical talents of St Mary’s choir and guitar club. The assembly began with the guitar club playing three fantastic pieces, including one with three-way harmony. Then, the choir treated us to three songs. St Mary’s audience of pupils and parents even joined in with their interactive performance. London 2015!

On 9th and 10th July, Violet class went on their residential trip to London. They travelled down by coach and arrived at the London eye. They had earned the money for this part of the visit through their Young Enterprise projects. The class loved seeing London from so high up and could spot many recognisable places. This week the children in Violet class have been running their Young Enterprise businesses after school in the playground. What a success they have been! Check out the photos below:

Since the Whit holidays, the children in Violet class have been working hard to start up their own businesses. They were put into teams of 5 and completed a number of tasks to find out all about the skills needed to be an entrepreneur. Leavers’ service at Manchester Cathedral

On Thursday 11th June, Violet class attended the first of a number of leavers’ events in preparation for them moving on to secondary school. The Leavers’ service was held at Manchester Cathedral and was attended by hundreds of Year 6 pupils from Manchester diocese.
