World Book Day

We have all had a wonderful time today joining in the World Book Day celebrations. There was a buzz on the playground even before school started as the children came in excitedly with their favourite books from home, Clive then joined us for an assembly telling us his favourite story from the most wonderful book in the world, The Bible.

Then during the day we split into teams to join in the Bumper World Book Day quiz. It’s always fun to work with friends from other classes and we needed teamwork to answer some of the tricky book questions. Everybody enjoyed themselves and congratulations to those children on the winning teams.

At the end of the day it was time for D.E.A.R: drop everything and read! There was such a variety of books brought in by children and it was lovely to share their excitement and enjoyment of reading.

At the end of the day every child received their special World Book Day Token which can be used to purchase one of the special World Book Day books or to take £1 off the cost of another book.

It has been a great celebration of books and has shown that everyone at St Mary’s definitely loves reading!
