What an exciting day we have had at St. Mary’s with a visit from poet Matt Goodfellow. The day began with a performance in the hall for KS2 children, followed by a performance for KS1 children. Matt was so entertaining and we all laughed as he shared funny stories about his children and his inspiration for his different poems. As well as that, we were able to join in with his poems and even got to do actions.
After break time, Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 experienced a poetry workshop with Matt. The theme was about ‘not getting it right, getting it written.’ Matt encouraged us to be confident in recording our thoughts and ideas and with each class working on two different poetry structures. After the holidays we will be able to refine these into finished poems.
