In Maths this term we will be focusing on Place Value (within 10). Securing their number bonds to 10 will greatly support your child's learning. Children will be counting objects, comparing by groups and counting one more and less. We will be using number lines, 100 squares, place value grids to support their learning. We will also start to explore addition and subtraction and use part-whole models to aid their learning.

In English we will be using the classic picture book, 'Where the Wild things are' by Maurice Sendak to create our own story and to write a set of instructions. Later this term, we will use the poetry book, 'A Dinosaur at the bus stop' to explore a range of poems.

P.E. is on a Tuesday and Wednesday this term.

On Tuesday, children need to wear suitable clothing for outdoor activities including waterproof pieces and wellies. On Wednesday, it will be indoor P.E.  We are very fortunate that Stockport County are kindly providing PE kits for all children at St Mary's this year. These will be distributed by the end of next week.

Due to health and safety regulations, all earrings, watches and jewellery must be removed prior to the school day for PE sessions.

 Reading 

We ask that you find 5 or 10 minutes, four days a week to read you child's phonic book with them. They need these four reads so that they can build fluency, develop comprehension and experience success. 

Please ensure reading records are signed and that reading books and records are brought to school every day. We are very fortunate to have some volunteers who regularly come in to read with the children.
