Blue – Year 4 – 2021-2022

Headsmart Road Safety

Blue Class was visited by Andy, a road safety expert from Stockport Council who taught us all about the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a bike or scooter. We carried out an eggstraordinary experiment using eggs to demonstrate how we need to protect our heads when using the roads.

Roman Clay Pottery

We had a creative afternoon in which we designed and made Roman pottery from clay. We slowly built up our pots using a technique called coiling. We really enjoyed getting creative (and messy) with our hands.

Chester Roman Trip

Year 4 visited the historic city of Chester and the Grosvenor Museum. After a fascinating workshop in which we handled Roman artefacts, we visited the amphitheatre and learnt some Roman battle formations. What a fantastic day!

Manchester United ‘Power Play’ Tournament

Year 4 were chosen to participate in the Manchester United Emerging Talent Programme. This was a fun, football tournament in which 6 members of our class were chosen out of a hat to take part. St Mary’s played well as a team and gave lots of encouragement to each other. In their first game, they scored an amazing 6 goals! We came second overall in the tournament – Well done to everyone for a fantastic morning.

Ancient Greek Workshop

Blue class invited a visitor into the classroom – an Ancient Greek soldier! We learnt all about how the Ancient Greeks lived, battled and created their own alphabet. We had a brilliant day and learnt a lot to help with our learning in history.

Freddie Fit Visits Blue Class

Freddy Fit came to school and gave us a good work out. We tried different exercises that we could also try at home.
