School Meals
Our school meals are provided by Totally Local Company.
School Meal Menus
Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 Children
The Government introduced in 2014 universal free school meals, meaning that all children in Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 are eligible to receive a free school meal. Children can bring a packed lunch if they prefer.
KS2 Children
Children can either bring their own packed lunch to school or purchase a school meal. The cost of a school meal is currently £2.84 per day which can be paid for weekly, half termly or termly in advance via cash, cheque or via SchoolMoney.
Free School Meals
If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 you can still apply for Free School Meals. You can do this via the Stockport Council website https://www.stockport.gov.uk/start/free-school-meals-application-form By applying for Free School Meals you could also trigger additional resources for your children’s school through the Pupil Premium. Pupil Premium Funding is allocated to schools based on the number of pupils claiming free school meals. This money is used to support pupils in raising their attainment. For every child registered, and entitled, the school gets £1385 to help children from lower income families. At St Mary’s we do this in a number of ways such as extra-curricular activities and residential trips and can also provide additional resources. Even if you only claim money for a short period of time the school will now continue to receive money, so please apply now!
Eligibility is based on one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Universal Credit (provided your household income is less than £7,400 a year after tax and not including any benefits you get)
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
- Working Tax Credit run-on paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
Free School Meals saves you £484.50 per year for each child.
If you don’t want your child to have the school meals then you are still welcome to send them in with a packed lunch – as long as you qualify and are registered, the school will still receive the additional funding.
